Amanda- Journal Entry ethics january 29th 2020

Youth Taking Action, as our mission statement states, focuses on helping different aspects of the community we live in. These aspects being environmental, animal and humans that are indivisible meaning they are equally as important and can’t be ordered into a hierarchy. However, not everyone may see it this way. For this reason, when doing this project, moral relativism ethics can be taken into account. Moral relativism is believed judgments are true or false only relative to some particular standpoint. For example, Youth Taking Action often does activities involving the preservation of the natural environment like beach clean-ups to lower the impact humans have on Earth’s ecosystem since its decaying due to the climate crisis. Nonetheless, not everyone believes in climate change and may see underage students cleaning up people’s garbage at beaches as unethical. This ethical implication helps me realize how my beliefs and standpoints will not always parallel everyone else’s and must take a respectful and unbiased take on certain topics.
