CAS: Regarding Action

In the middle of a pandemic, it’s important to work out and remain active rather than become a sedentary person. Since I am unable to do my favourite activities and sports at the moment (soccer for example) I have leaned towards other activities that will help me keep active. Amongst these activities I have chosen to work out at home and follow a routine I have made with workouts that I enjoy (my favourites are ab workouts especially planks), I have also swum with Grace at Grace’s house in her pool, as well as, gone on bike rides with Cata, Julie, and Grace to cliff jump and even to the beach. In addition, I also planned to go to play tennis but in the end, I was unable to do so because I had to go to San Jose.

I’m a person that loves to be active, especially doing sports more than working out on my own. Since Coronavirus ruined my chance of playing soccer and finishing the championship with my soccer team, I have tried to look for other activities that will bring me close to the joy I feel whenever I play soccer. Being in quarantine has been no easy task for anyone, but in order for this to ever be over, we have to seek and adapt to new opportunities in order to move on.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively: I have discovered that I much more enjoy doing activities with people (as in teamwork) than alone since I feel that people surrounding me like my soccer team, for example, motivate me to be my best at the sport, rather than when I’m working out alone.
  • Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance: I showed adaptability to this new life I have to live now since an issue of global importance like Coronavirus has made me do this.

IB Learner Profile:

  • Balanced: Not gonna lie, I have been a little lazy this summer because some days I just want to do nothing but I’ve been able to remain balanced by being active but also being sedentary both equally.
  • Reflective: This pandemic has made me be more reflective about being grateful for things that I possibly took for granted before, like my soccer practices or my soccer games. Now, I wish with all my life that I could go back to the life I had before.
