CAS Journal Entry

My goal is to embrace unity among my community and people by helping individuals with disabilities to gain a better life experience. This brings an initiative to create a change in the world and my community, because wanting to give people a better life is something that comes naturally from the bottom of my heart. I’ve volunteered in Cepia many times to help other people, just seeing a kid’s smile for the first time because he/she is receiving something their parents are not able to give them. Is one of the most impactful and true smiles I’ve ever seen. It changes people’s lives. I want to change their lives, the same way they changed mine. It’s so important to me because I personally experienced these types of situations. So I know I might not be able to help every person in the world. But I can be a source of help to take initiatives and develop projects where I can support as many people as I can.  It doesn’t matter if through my CAS experience I help only 1 family. Small acts can change the whole world. I will be completely thrilled and happy if I help around 30 families, but If I help 1 or 2 I will be satisfied that at least I could change someone’s life. It’s not what you do. It’s how you do it. I can convince anyone that I am good for any organization because of my abilities to communicate and establish relationships with other people. I would be willing to demonstrate to people that empathy and kindness, and helping other people can be a great chance for people to know who we are and what we do.

Covid-19. One of the pandemics that has affected the world the most since 2020. It has affected economically and has ended the lives of many people. It has brought out the best and the worst in us, it has taught us that money can’t buy health, it has taught us to take care of what we have, it has taught us to miss our loved ones, it has taught us to love again. During the pandemic I have seen many people create campaigns to help those in need. The exploitation of unemployment has been very big all over the world and many people became unemployed and had no way to provide food for their families. People in need were blessed by families who took the initiative to help with food to sustain them for 1 week and took it upon themselves to donate food every week.

Families who have children/husbands/parents with disabilities have found it extremely difficult to make ends meet by purchasing necessary materials for their children/parents/husbands. In the meantime, not all families have a roof over their heads, food to eat, clothes to wear. I have always been someone who sees a problem and looks for a way to solve it. Together with my partner Geyra. We want to give families the opportunity to have a simpler life. To be able to have food. To be able to have clothes. We want to be a change in the world, we want to be a change in people’s hearts and let them know that they are not alone. We want to make the community understand that helping someone in need really changes people’s lives and one’s own life as well. Even if it is a small thing, it can be such a big thing. That’s what I want to persuade the world that small acts like love, appreciation, kindness and compassion can make big changes.
