When I was thinking of ideas of what to include in this journal entry, my mind immediately went to the quote of the day from the journal that I write it. It says "If everything you try works, you are not trying hard enough". I think that this is especially true with my CAS project because even though I face certain challenges sometimes, I am able to learn new skills and lessons that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. One of the main challenges that I have faced recently is figuring out how to prevent some of my plants from wilting, especially when some of the factors that cause it are out of my control. Here are my answers to the prompts from this journal entry:
What were my perceptions going into the task?
My perception of this challenge was that I expected it to be difficult and I did not expect to find an answer as to why some of my plants are wilting. However, as I wrote about in my last journal entry, a helpful thing that I have learned from my CAS experience is the importance of collaboration. When I was faced with this challenge, I felt a bit more reassured because I knew that there was someone who I could go to and ask for help. I ended up learning that the wilting was mostly caused by the rain, however, on my part, I could help to prevent the wilting by fertilizing my plants long enough before it rains so that it can soak in effectively.
How do I feel after taking on a new challenge? What are the adjectives I would use to describe myself?
After taking on this new challenge, I feel more reassured that I can take on other challenges in the future. Some adjectives I would use to describe myself now are informed, relaxed, and aware. Learning from challenges has helped me to gain skills such as effective communication, cooperation, and time management.
Was I successful at overcoming my challenges? Why or why not? How do I know if I was successful or not?
For now, I'm not entirely sure yet. The good thing is that now I am more informed about what I can do to prevent my plants from wilting and I will use my time management skills and responsibility to make sure that I am doing everything I can. I'm making a schedule for when to fertilize the plants to best avoid the rain and I'm also making sure that no bugs get into the planters and eat the plants. Soon I will know if my efforts are successful or not but I'm glad that the challenges I've experienced have helped me gain new skills and taught me how to approach these challenges in the future.
How will these skills help me in future projects?
I think that all of the skills I have gained from this challenge in my project will be very helpful for future projects. Communication is super important because it allows you to reach out to others when you need them, along with making sure that you understand each other. Cooperation also has a lot to do with this, because with it you can understand each other's skills and how to use them to their full potential. Lastly, time management is essential for any project in order to stay organized and understand priorities in projects.
