Sara Trimarchi:

Do you think teenagers are important and if so why?

• Because we are the future without us there’s no future.

Do teenagers have an impact on your daily life?

• They make me happier because I’m surrounded by good people.

Do you think this is something that should be a community issue?

• Because a lot of teenagers don’t have the best home life or don’t have a lot of people to hangout with cause their friends live far away or they don’t have a lot of friends. And maybe a place where they can all stay together and have fun is good for those people.

What do you think the youth center is? What do you know about it?

• A community center for kids to go to when they need somewhere to be or a safe place for kids to hangout. And to have fun.

What are our community strengths?

• Whenever there is a problem or someone’s in trouble, the whole community comes together to help.

What does this community need?

• Una municipalidad.

What does this community have to share?

• The nature and beauty of our ecosystem.

Nancy Ripley:

Do you think teenagers are important and if so why?

• Of course teenagers are important they are our future. We need to keep them safe and teach them how to navigate through different situations so they can be ready to do it on their own.

Do teenagers have an impact on your daily life?

• At this stage of my life, teenagers do not impact me at all. I have grandchildren but they have not reached that age.

What do you think the youth center is? What do you know about it?

• The youth center is a safe place for teenagers to meet their friends and hang out, play games and socialize. Maybe have some classes to teach other skills that may not be offered at school. Ex. Babysitting, service job training, craft, music lesson, camp counselor training.

Do you think this is something that should be a community issue?

• Yes, I believe there is enough teenagers in this community to warrant a center. The town should be aware of the youth center and what it provides for their young people.

What are our community strengths?

• Community strengths are people helping each other when really needed. This community really comes together in desperate times.

What does this community need?

• Police department that really cares. But attention on drug dealers, drug usage and crime.

What does this community have to share?

• Beautiful skate park for families to enjoy. Youth center, a place for teenagers.  Clean beaches to swim, surf and enjoy.

Amy Snodgrass:

First, do you think teenagers are important and if so why?

• I could be here all day answering this question. There’s a famous quote that says, “it’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken men “(Frederick Douglass). It’s gender biased but reflects the importance of the teenage years for self esteem and skills talents that as they grow up will bring to their community, world and own children.

Then, do teenagers have an impact on your daily life?

• Students [teenagers] they give me a sense of purpose.

Lastly, do you think this is something that should be a community issue?

• I totally think it is. It’s important for young people to learn how to behave in different environments. The way they act in school is different than other places. They also need to know that they are always on display. “your character is what you do when you think no one is watching”. It is Important for a community to be watching.

And, what do you think the youth center is? What do you know about it?

• A place where young people can interact in a safe and healthy way. Where they can develop leadership skills importance and have a safety net. It’s a place for them to have ownership over what they do with their time and the opportunity for the community to demonstrate their support of young ppl. And a place that saves young people from at risk behaviors.
