CAS Journal Entry #26
Candy Grams!
Two weeks ago, during Valentine’s Day, I helped my friends Nicolle, Cindy, and Amanda with some candy grams. Although the project wasn’t mine and I wasn’t involved in it whatsoever I decided to help with the creation of a few notes for the candy grams and blowing balloons since the girls were running out of time and needed lots of help with creating them.
I am extremely proud of my friends because they managed to make approximately 200 candy grams in a matter of a week. It feels very gratifying to be able to help with something that so many people enjoyed. I also learned to never underestimate those people that decided to make Valentine’s Day Candy Grams or Gratitude Grams because it takes so much time and effort to create them that it just made me more proud of the people in the school that have done them.
Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: I demonstrated skills of leadership because I was like the one in charge of the team working on blowing balloons. I recognized that working collaboratively insofar as blowing balloons allows many benefits such as not passing out because you run out of air, but also you get to finish quickly.
- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process: Some challenges were the people that weren’t able to blow balloons properly so I had to help them even more which allowed new skills like patience to be developed in the process.
IB Learner Profile:
- Caring: I care a lot about friends therefore seeing them struggle with something makes me want to help them even more. Which is what happened in this scenario.
- Inquirers: I’ve always wondered what it was like to make candy grams because I’ve never been involved in it. I wanted to figure out what it was like to do them at least by doing something small.
