My focus strategy was to create a schedule for my distractions each day so that I can plan the time for when I am able to be productive without procrastinating. I started out with only a few broad things. For example, checking my phone, making a snack, watching Netflix, or talking to my family. After the first two days, I realized that I was going to have to be more specific, I would have an hour of phone time scheduled in but I would go on my phone to text someone about school or to google something and then use it as an excuse to check snap because it ‘only takes another 10 seconds’. However, once I separated the people I Snap into different categories I was able to notice a significant difference in my screen usage. I divided it up into Necessary, and Soon; during the day I was only allowed to respond to the Necessary people meaning each snap actually only took 10-30 seconds. Then during the time when I was going to schedule my distraction, I could respond to the Soon people which would take a few minutes. This, along with my apple watch helps me so that I go through most 0f my classes with my phone in the other room.
This week in CAS I am Connecting and Communicating, my friend from Boston and I are starting a Lacrosse camp for the summer and I have been reaching out to different people including the BYY coach. We are also in the process of creating a flyer to post online.
