Global Conversation _ Grace Herman

November 14th 2019

The following is a collection of tweets and an article that contribute to the global conversation surrounding youth and the importance of youth.

Mwangi17592331 tweets, “#BolaBet, #SoccerBeting etc..urrent or should I say only form of #YouthEmpowerment in Zambia and Africa”

This tweet connects to my project because the complaint it’s stating is what we are trying to avoid. We want to create more ways for teenagers to be empowered, unlike the situation in Zambia and Africa that presented in this tweet. This tweet connects to soccer trends and the general trend of empowerment common in society right know.

Webbolutionary_Motivation tweeted “When educating our youth on skills in self management and responsible decision making that comes with leader, I like to provide them with examples” he also has a picture with a quote, “I want to first make a difference in their lives and teach them how to do the same for others”.

This tweet connects to my CAS project because the concept of student leadership is another facet of the project. We are learning how to be community leaders and how to be responsible and accountable. The second quote also connects to my personal mission within Terraza, to connect with teenagers and be constantly there for them hopefully making a difference in their lives and encouraging them to do the same for others. This tweet again shows the trend in empowerment.

The Zimbabwean government, “has set aside $500 million for youth empowerment and announced a tax incentive for companies that employ young professionals as it steps up efforts to generate jobs in the country” (Netsianda).

This article explains the invest Zimbabwean is making in their youth. This connects to my project because it is the community of Tamarindo investing in their youth.  This article shows the trend of investing in youth and their empowerment.

OYUnited tweeted, “Great news from our Sacramento Community Action team! They’ve been advocating for their community to #InvestinYouth – and now it’s on the ballot”.

This tweet connects to my CAS project because the goal is to get the community of tamarindo to invest in the wellbeing of teenagers. The connects to trends of politics and teenagers sharing there voice in politics.

Hon. Tsvangirai Vincet tweeted, “investing in our youth is investing in our future #investinyouth”.

This connects to my CAS project because the goal of the youth center is to invest in the youth of Tamarindo and make them feel as if they belong through the investment of time and community funds. This tweet uses the thought of future as it’s trend.
