How are you feeling at the beginning of the project?
Describe your feelings and how you are using strategies to manage them.
I’m feeling a little nervous but also a bit comfortable because I have the plan (or idea) clear in my mind and I feel that it’s going to go well. I do feel that I will need to start working more on my timeline and plan meetings with Steff and Alex so that there is better communication between us and a more stable flow of our ideas.
Create SMART goals for your project. Explain how they are SMART and when we can review them to see if they have been met.
SMART goal:
To fundraise money for children who don’t have the resources; through a fun and enjoyable tennis tournament for the community. In the process learn how to organize and manage events, while gaining management, organizational, and skills during my time working on this project.
Specific: I specify what it is that I want to achieve and my expectative on the outcome.
Measurable: This goal is measurable because I mention what I want to work on and which skills I want to gain.
Achievable: I feel like my goal isn’t too hard and that it’s something that I can definitely complete if I work hard on it I will achieve it. I will also have help from my mentors to guide me through this process.
Relevant: It is relevant because it focuses on what I want to accomplish in my project.
Timely: The time that I will spend on achieving my goal will be all the time from CAS (till I graduate). We can review if my goals have been met when I am finishing 12th grade.
What are your perceptions of the project at the moment?
I am very excited and happy for this project and can’t wait for it to happen. I am very optimistic and think that it will come out well.
Does it solve a need in the community? If so, what?
It does solve a need because there are no tennis tournaments around this area, this activity will bring the community closer together and will raise money for kids who want to practice this sport but don’t have the materials.
Are there people that are willing to help? If not, how can you find them? And what is the vision for the project at the end of the duration?
There are people who are willing to help me with this project. My vision for the project at the end is for me to have gained new skill and more experience through a successful tennis tournament that will bring the community closer (still respecting the covid protocols) and will help kids get access to a sport that they can’t play because of their missing resources.
How will it benefit the community?
It will benefit the community because we will fundraise and donate this money to the kids who want to play this sport by getting supplies and sponsorship (or scholarship) for them. This can also benefit because it can help tennis players from different parts in the community to meet each other and have fun.
