“Act as if what you do makes a difference…it does”- William James
The reason why this quote is important and relates to the CAS project myself and Geyra plan to do next year, is because we like helping people From a very young age, my values were centered on being grateful for the little and the much I had. I was taught to share and always do things for others without having to receive anything in return. Throughout my life I have been applying the values I learned every day, until now. My partner and I believe that small acts make big changes. We had the experience of receiving help during the pandemic, personally it has made us more grateful to the community. We want people in our community to feel the same way, to feel grateful and to feel that they have support. This phrase motivates me to always do things with love, to treat people well because you never know what difficult times a person may be going through. I live my days making a little difference in people’s lives, whether it be with a greeting, a motivational message and physical affection. Little things make a difference. And those little things make a difference in my life.
In my opinion the class is very important and fun, so far it makes my relationship with Geyra better every time. It gives us time to talk to our mentor, it gives us time to really reflect on what we want to approach and what our next steps will be. It makes us set up new expectations every time we come up with an idea. We do have some little things we need to work on. Weather is time management mostly for me because I work, or motivation for the better of the project. We’ve lost motivation because we feel like our whole purpose has been set up in different areas. We started out great but then our motivation went down after our meeting with Bola de Nieve Church and Cepia. We focused too much on what other people think then what our whole project is about, we don’t want this to happen again next year, we will start strong and will end out strong.
