Julie Creativity Journal Entry – April 15th 2020
Over this break it has been interesting trying to find new ways to be creative, since we are in quarantine and unable to leave our houses. One of the things I started to get into and enjoy was practicing nail art. Because of quarantine I have been extra bored so I decided to look for new things to do and ended up wanting to practice getting better at painting my nails. Before this break, I had painted my nails pretty frequently, but it was always just one basic color and I didn’t really test my skills. Since I had already enjoyed this in the past and I had extra time, I decided to look up cool designs and try some of them out. This was challenging because most of the designs needed tools or different types of nail polish so some of them did not work out that well. The photo below is my favorite one that I tried because it was kind of challenging, but I was actually able to do it without using any tools and it turned out pretty well.
Learning outcomes:
Identify own strengths and develop areas of growth: After trying this out for a few weeks, I was able to identify that I am actually pretty good at nail art and being patient with letting it dry before I put on another layer or just start touching things that could mess it up. One area of growth could be practicing painting my right hand because since I am right handed it was hard to get my right hand to look as good as my left, although this practice can help me get more comfortable using my left hand and hopefully help me be able to write better with it.
