Julie Dia de las Mascaradas – October 31st 2019

After volunteering for SSS, we had our first event on November 1st. For this event, I started by helping set up. I helped hang up balloons and artwork made by some of the students. I also helped set up the glow in the dark capture the flag which I then ran during the event with my peer, Grace. For the capture the flag we had to round up the kids that wanted to play, make sure they had tickets and then explain the rules and be refs as they played. After the event I helped clean up the capture the flag and the food and drinks area. Learning outcomes: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process : I found some challenges during the capture the flag game because it was really difficult making two teams that contained the same amount of little and big kids especially since there were a lot of people who wanted to play. Through this challenge I learned how to get the kids to listen and respect where I told them to go. IB learning profile: Principled : I was principled when I ran the capture the flag with Grace.
