CAS Journal Entry #36

Human Resources Personal Reflection

One of the things I’m feeling throughout the course of this project is excitement. I hope to work with 9th and possibly 9th graders and help them with their Spanish as much as possible, to both native-English speakers and native-Spanish speakers. I feel like if I was given this opportunity in 9th grade on how to deepen my analysis it would’ve helped me be a more critical thinker now that I am in IB. When I first started doing this project, I definitely felt overwhelmed over the amount of work we had to get done in just one week, nonetheless, now that I’m almost done with it I understand how crucial that amount of work was in order to jumpstart this learning experience.

This project has allowed me to think about the real world and the way in which companies are working into seeing how effective their service is and evaluating whether they should renew personnel or decrease it. In addition, it has also allowed me to understand what Human Resources managers are looking for and how to apply for a job with the expectation to enter. By creating this learning experience for the 9th graders, it has deepened my understanding of the business IB content since if looked through the lens of Bloom’s Taxonomy, this project would be at the highest levels which means I have applied all of my knowledge from before to get to this higher analytical level of creating.

This project could help me in the future since I want to study business management in college and maybe with an emphasis on HR then this project could serve as a guide on what I would expect from being an HR manager. In addition, for future jobs, I could use the knowledge I’ve obtained from here and use it in order to be eligible for the job. This project has not only benefited me but also my family or the community around me, or even the world, since now many people are unemployed as a result of the Coronavirus, therefore, once this is over knowledge obtained from projects like these can help people get a job since they get to learn so much from them. Lastly, the most challenging aspect of this project thus far is brainstorming ideas on how I can be entertaining to my audience since I know what it’s like to be a 9th grader, or a teenager even, and I know how tedious it can be to analyze relatively uninteresting texts.
