May 23rd 2020 – Julie’s Business Project Reflection Week #4

This week I spoke with my mentor and focused on myself and my time management skills with the activity I chose this week, which was meditation. I always used to think meditation was kind of a waste of time and wouldn’t change my working habits so I decided to try it and see if maybe I was wrong. I was surprised because with just 10 or 15 minutes of meditation a day I was actually feeling relaxed and it was a good time to try and think about how I’m going to stay on schedule for the week or just to try and relax and forget about everything I have to do for a bit.

This week I also spoke with Ms. Cat, we talked about our next steps which is me helping her edit some of her videos so she gave me the task of downloading a few different editing platforms to see which I like best and which ones have cool features that Ms. Cat might want to use.

I also really liked Daniels Pink’s Theory of Motivation Ted Talk because I actually had watched this Netflix show over spring break that was all about experiments and seeing how human behavior works and for one of the episodes they did the same experiment as Pink’s theory and they both came out with the same results. They both said that people actually make better quality work when there is not an award that goes to the team or person that finishes first.

Learning outcomes:

Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process – This week I demonstrated that a challenge has been undertaken because I had always struggled with meditating and was not able to do it for that long because I didn’t really see the point. But, after this week when I decided to try it out, I actually got better at it throughout the week and got to see how it can actually impact someones day.
