CAS Journal Entry #42
Human Resource Reflection
Questions to ask Ms. Claudia:
This week I’ve been unable to work with Miss Claudia because the day we have our meetings, which is on Thursdays at 2 pm, she had another meeting with another teacher and then we agreed to a meeting on Friday at 2 pm but unfortunately, technology wasn’t working for me. Nonetheless, even though these circumstances happened and unmotivated me a little I’ve still manage to brainstorm ideas on how to teach a class to the 8th grade.
The 8th grade, from what I’ve heard on past meetings, needs to enforce their Spanish vocabulary, and since they aren’t in school they can’t really read or speak to their peers in Spanish. Therefore, I was thinking of teaching them a little on either Costarican slang or have them analyze a commercial (a fun one) in Spanish. This could be a Coca Cola one, or an M&Ms one since their target audience is teenagers for the most part and write the words they don’t understand, the colors, the scenery, the effect this has on the audience.
Additionally, throughout the course of this project, I’ve seen myself grow and develop as a person and a learner. I’ve grown and developed as a person because I now notice the “behind-the-scenes” of teachers’ lessons and it makes me feel grateful for the amount of effort and dedication they put into their lessons. It makes me value, even more, the pieces of knowledge that they transmit to me every day.
In addition, I’ve grown and developed as a learner because by incorporating all of the pieces of knowledge I’ve learned in business throughout the entire year I’ve seen how knowledgeable I’ve become. I can also see connections to my other classes. For example, designing this lesson plan of analyzing a commercial makes me understand the target audience and culture of companies like Coca Cola (as a result of business content) as well as understand the director’s choice to include certain things in order to convey emotion to the audience (as a result of English and Spanish content). This project has allowed me to see things through the lens of not only a student, but as a teacher, a manager, and a person.
