Examples of Global Conversation
A global conversation that is going on right now related to my “Proyecto Vida Mujer” CAS project is women empowerment. In the first image, it’s an ad that I found while scrolling through Instagram from the INAMU (Instituto Nacional de la Mujer) in Costa Rica.
After a wave of femicides that have been happening in Costa Rica, the INAMU is encouraging all of the population both women and men to take action and participate in a march that’s going to take place on November 25 in San Jose.
Even though it’s not directly related to my project, both have aspects of women empowerment because the march is to empower women of all ages and cultural backgrounds and let them know that they have a voice and their voices will be heard.
In addition, another post I found of women empowerment was from UN Women’s Twitter page where they talk about empowering women in India especially those living in rural zones, and how a female entrepreneur of that zone has some ideas to make it as effective as possible.
Similar to my project, both UN Women India and I want to empower women in rural zones (in my case Huacas, El Llano, Brasilito, etc) and seek equality insofar as health rights. Similar to the Twitter post mentioned above, a foundation called the Kama Foundation Inc wanted to encourage and empower girls in rural areas of Papua New Guinea where education and health rights were going to be taught.
Like our CAS Project, we’re also trying to inform young and adult women about the IUD and about their sexual health rights, which is something this NGO is trying to do in Papua New Guinea.
Finally, I found 2 Twitter posts that decided to focus on women empowerment in Africa specifically, like in Morocco and Egypt.
I could connect both tweets to my project because like them (specifically the tweet about Egypt) my project is aimed at advocating for women’s health rights by giving them products that could later empower them economically, especially in zones where women are judged and underestimated even though they hold lots of potentials.
