Día de las Mascaradas Event

After almost two months of preparation for the Día de las Mascaradas, all of the hard work paid off because it was a successful event which in the end ended up raising lots of money. Amanda, Lina and I were in charge of being at the entrance selling food and game tickets. In the beginning, it was so stressful because each ticket was 500 colones and sometimes people asked for 10 tickets and that was something that definitely took me some time to adjust to and do the math quickly because I was in charge of the money.

After an hour of many people coming to buy game and food tickets, the line started decreasing so it wasn’t as stressful as before. Something that made me very happy was that after almost two months of constant preparation and many meetings all the hard work paid off at the event. We were working from 1:45 pm until the event finished voluntarily, so knowing all of that hard work paid off is something I’m happy and proud of.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: Even though all of the team was divided into different sectors we all looked at our skills and discovered how we could work together, and in the end, it worked out. Without the team, the event wouldn’t have been possible.
  • Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience: Even though it was Stacy and Cata’s CAS project, we, as a team, helped initiate the CAS experience in the first place and even volunteered in it.

IB Learner Profile:

  • Balanced: Even when I was also working with my own CAS project I was still actively involved in these events.
  • Principled: We treated all of the community respectfully and with a big smile.
