October 10, 2019 – Jimena CAS Journal Entry

During CAS class we had to create a mind map regarding something we want to do with our project. In my case, I decided to create a mind map regarding how I’m going to make my CAS project more personal, in the sense of how I’m going to add a special touch to it. After minutes of thinking I decided to get started on my mind map and at the beginning, I struggled a bit but later on, it got more easily to sort things out and find new ideas.

The way in which I’ve added a little personal touch to my CAS project is by trying to get more people of the La Paz community involved so the overall community of Guanacaste is aware that there are people of different cultural backgrounds involved in it, in addition, I also spoke with my mentor Geneva about including new volunteers and she said it was great except that they’d have to reach to her directly.

The Learning Outcome I’m focusing right now would demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively because we have an upcoming IUD clinic this Friday 18th and Saturday 19th, therefore, we’re finishing preparing for it.

An example of us preparing for it would be me editing some paperwork so we have a questionnaire ready for the women getting the IUD during those two days. Something I will do this week to move my project forward is I’m going to see if I can arrange a meeting with Julie, Sibley, and Geneva sometime this week so we can get everything ready before the clinic. In addition, I’m also going to be participating on Saturday the whole day at our IUD clinic.
