One of the most distinctive Thai customs is the wai. it may include a slight bow of the head. This salutation is often accompanied by a serene smile symbolizing a welcoming disposition and a pleasant attitude. Thailand is often referred to as the “land of smiles” in tourist brochures. Our house is on a shared plot of land where our landlords brother, mom and sister live also but the houses are separated by a wall. there are many restaurants and shops lining our street and most of them are pretty inexpensive whitch came as a shock. another custom that they have in thiland is that women when visiting a temple and if they enounter a monk they must bow untill the monk departs because they are over higher standerd and demand more respect. There is a tiger santuary and elepant santuary two streets over from us where you are allowed to observe and sometimes feed the animals but its not reccommended.
