What have I learned?
The CAS experience has taught me to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a partner. Some people will say thay working with a friend is easy, but not when it comes to sharing and approving ideas. The main struggle at the beginning at my CAS project was working with a partner because we are like water and oil (don´t mix). Also, through the CAS experience I had the chance to enroll myself deeper with the community, understanding the needs.
Yes, I have practiced these aspects through my CAS experience. This year, Cata and I decided to divide jobs. She is in charge of the food baskets for La Paz families, while I’m in charge of the tutoring. Due to Corona, planning presencial activities aren’t a thing now. So we both communicated and came to an agreement. A true story when glimmers of awesomeness were presented in Día de las Mascaradas last year. Ms. Kenia came to me and ¨Wow Stacy, everything is well organized and planned. Congratulations¨. I was dying of proudness. And also, the fact that we were the first ones to bring a cimarrona to this event.
On the other hand, I´ve also faltered in my experience. There was one case that I forgot I had tutoring with Sofia. I spent all afternoon watching Netflix, and by the time I saw the time, it was 1 hour late. I had no idea what to buy. It was the first time it happened. Likewise, my plan to keep practicing my communication skills is to keep the job division. In like manner, I made a schedule for tutoring. And I set an alarm on my mom’s phones every tutoring day. This way, I won’t forget ! 🙂
