Week 2 Journal Entry

How are you feeling at the beginning of the project? Describe your feelings and how you are using strategies to manage them. Create SMART goals for your project. Explain how they are SMART and when we can review them to see if they have been met. What are your perceptions of the project at the moment? Does it solve a need in the community? If so, what? Are there people that are willing to help? If not, how can you find them. And what is the vision for the project at the end of the duration? How will it benefit the community?

At the beginning of the project I am often feeling very excited. I’m excited because I already want to start fundraisers and change peoples lives. I’m very excited because I’ve done this type of ideas on my own. With the people I see around, I buy food for the homeless people I see on the streets, of course I don’t have that much amount of money to feed all the homeless people I see, but at least I get to help some of them and it feels very nice not only to help but to listen to their story. Some strategies I’m using are planning. Myself and my partner really want people to understand our objective and our intentions into this project. We are planning every single step we will take during this 18 months of CAS, and because we are still planning we are excited to start this journey. Our plans are still on course, we are getting our ideas together to make this project successful.

SMART GOAL: To help individuals and families in poverty by providing donations of clothes and food in order to facilitate their needs. We will do this by making fundraisers, collaborating with local organizations and reaching out to the community. This will be done through 18 months of work and commitment to reach our objectives and change peoples lives.

Our SMART goal is SMART because it is specific, it explains what our project is about, who we are helping and how we will help them. It’s measurable because we are measuring the amount of months we have to complete this project. No matter if the project does not work, or if the project does work, it will be reflected throughout the 2 years of cas experience. It is attainable/relevant/ time based because we are very excited to start, and we plan to achieve our goals and objectives throughout this time period of reflection and personal experience.

Our perception of this project is to complete our objectives and start off with interviewing the families. We will complete them by working in teamwork, communicating within each other, being organized and open minded to new ideas. Being risk takers for overcoming obstacles that will come up in our way. We will help families in poverty who don’t have the economical resources to buy food/ clothes/ any material that is necessary for daily life. We will receive any help from anyone who wants to reach out and be part of this journey. Our vision is to make people happy and grateful for what they have and don’t have. We want them to understand that money can be everything but it doesn’t buy happiness. Having a family and love is really more important than having all the money in the world. We want them to be grateful, to know that they are important and worth it. Their economic status or where they come from doesnt define who they are or who they can become. We also want to encourage society and people from the community to have awareness of social issues and do something about it because it can change everything for the better no matter how big or small it can be achieved. What’s  important is the intention and the reason why things are being accomplished and most importantly in the way things are being done.
