From our previous learning: what were some elements that you saw that were based in management theories? What were elements from the video that were leadership traits? There are leadership traits that are shown in this video are that the director is good at managing his workers. He creates an environment in which the workers can move freely and all the workers are capacitated to do all the jobs there is. What type of domain knowledge did you acquire from your HR remote learning project? What type of management skills did you learn from your HR remote learning project? How do these go together to make you a better leader in the future? Some domain knowledge I acquired thanks to working with this business was to be able to do the technological work and also the “hard work”. This helped me be able to move around the business easier because I knew how to do a great variety of jobs. If they needed help cutting a pipe, I would be there helping, if they needed me to cut some fabrics, I was able to measure the fabric we needed and cut it. This could help me be a better leader in the future because if I work in a similar business I would be able to supervise new employees and guide them so they can learn how to do it as well. Leadership styles What do you think? Do you think that this is a good example of a paternalistic leader? I think Woody is a good example of a paternal leader. He establishes control from the start and we can see how he doesn’t want to leave anyone behind so he is creating plans to prevent that(moving buddy) What leadership management style do you think that you fall under today? Why? I would say Paternal leadership, because, well normally I am not the leader, but when I am I like everyone to do well even if that means I have to do an extra problem or an extra slide. Explain which form of leadership and management style might be most appropriate for the following organizations and why: A small local restaurant with 13 employees? Paternalistic to make sure everyone works well together so that the enviorment can be calm and pleasant for the costumers. The military (armed forces)? Autocratic: because in the military the leaders must be completely A typical IB World School that offers the IB Diploma Program? Paternalistic because they should work to make everyone pass or at least do everything they can because if the students don't cooperate than there is not much that can be done. Is there a “good” or “bad” leadership style? Why or why not? There is no good or bad, it all depends on what the business requires to function correctly.
