Why is this project important to you?
This project is important to me because I have the opportunity to help a family in Huacas whose house burnt down. It’s important to me because I get experience from my acts and I know that in the future this will benefit my college resume, besides that having a CAS project that is tangible will help me pass Ib which is one of my biggest goals so far. My project is important in my academic and personal life, especially because I’m able to help families in need. More than anything else, it is about providing materials, having ideas of new ways to collect money, visiting the families, observing their reaction when we deliver the food and above all to be able to give without receiving anything in return. I believe that’s the most important thing to me, to give without receiving something in return.
Has it made you even more passionate about your project? If so, why? If not, why not?
This project has made me more passionate about what i’m doing with Geyra because we are helping people who really need it. It inspires me to make a better person than I already am, it inspires me to give a better education to the child who lost all his tools due to the fire. We will be giving the child school supplies so he can go to school and be successful when he grows up.
What have you learned about this issue that you are solving that everyone should know?
From this problem, I have learned that people are supportive to give food, money and others to help people in the community. I learned that helping others inspires people to do similar things. It not only shows the value of empathy but also shows the personality of the people. Thanks to God and the people who helped these families, they are able to live in a better condition again.
