I think ‘Hacking’ photosynthesis will be very beneficial in the future. As the population increases on Earth we need more resources for food and energy and these processes of ‘hacking’ photosynthesis to make fuel and more crops could be very useful. I think that the fact that these scientists were able to make tobacco plants that were 40 percent larger than the others is incredible, if we can apply this process to other plants and crops, we could make crops for the growing population. As for making fuel by recreating photosynthesis, I think it will be very useful if we find a more efficient way to do it, as the scientists in the article said. If we can find a way to make the catalyst as efficiently as plants we could have a reliable and renewable source of energy.

Hi SofiaRae- I totally agree with you that the need for hacking photosynthesis is greater than ever. Our growing populations require a larger supply of food, and at the rate, it is growing we need to exhaust every possible outlet to provide food for everyone. I also found the large tobacco plant really interesting, makes you wonder what other sort of vegetation will they be able to manipulate to achieve the same effects.
