I think that because of the state of water, it cannot be wet. For something to become wet, it must first be dry. Water makes things wet, but in my opinion, I don’t think that water itself is.
The definition of wet is “covered or saturated with water or another liquid.”
Water cannot technically absorb another liquid or absorb itself. Hence, it cannot be wet.
(These are my opinions, I realize that there are other valid arguments in favor of the opposite viewpoint.)

Hi Eleanora, I totally agree with you. Water cannot be wet since it is a liquid and the definition of wet only applies to solids.
